Statement of Purpose:
When I first came to Rose three
years ago, one of the options on the laptop was to have the machine setup
for dual booting. It was an option primarily exercised by power users.
I had used Windows 95+ for as long as I had been fooling around with computers,
and I had no idea of what else I would share my "boot" with. Since my first year at Rose, however, my machine has mostly been a dual boot
system, between varying flavors of Linux and Windows. I do not claim to
be an expert on either system, but the comparisons, tricks, and conclusions
that I have drawn may be of use to others who find themselves beginning
or following the same path upon which I find myself. My goal is not to
bash or glorify either system, but instead to provide a repository of
my own experiences concerning the pros and cons of both systems.
NOTE: The following tentative table of contents is not
completed, but I will link to each section as I complete them.
