I opened my presents this morning (before I had to cut my grass). My guesses were way off, but I’m very happy with what I got. Mama Bear was very nervous about what she picked out. Although it was all very unexpected, I see the merit in all of them. She picked out matching speakers for the stereo in my car, a brand new all black filing cabinet–which I needed as the old one was white, rusted, and broken–and a very cool Wii remote charging station.

We just got pictures of Baby Bear, I will try to get some uploaded soon. They were rather expensve, but are very beautiful–worth the cost for her first photos. I feel bad though when we spend so much money in such a short period of time (say several hundred dollars in less than 24 hours). At least I can say the money does my family good in terms of feeling better about ourselves and future; there is no better investment.
I realized recently that the life insurance policy through my company was set in my ex’s name, which isn’t good for Mama or Baby Bear’s sake. It will be yarn care of as soon as my boss returns. I am increasingly-aware of the various duties I must undertake to ensure my family is not only provided for, but they have all the advantages I’ve always wanted them to have.
It’s picture delivery time, then the long road home!!! Looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight though.

A good relationship can be gauged by how well you handle the little curves that life inserts into a well-laid plan. I’d say we had a great, unexpected, and spontaneous time last night, which is pouring over into today. It’s very exciting to really see how everything has played out, with Baby Bear doing OK without our taking care of her 24/7. I feel even better now about my relationship with Mama Bear, including a 5 night trip we have planned in July to attend HOPE. Plus we just had an all around great time just spending time together, getting a hotel room all to ourselves, and planning more fun things to do together today. I feel energized by our potential which only seems to get better as time goes on. Let’s hope I can keep it all together–everything seems to be more normalized for everyone, and that’s a really good thing. We just have to make sure we don’t let normal turn into stale.
We got the upscale hotel room with a whirlpool bath for too, and though it turned out to be slightly more expensive than I anticipated, it’s well worth it. I told the attendant at the desk that I was in town on business, and I think we got a really great room. Everything just fits nicely and works, I am very happy with our decision.
I guess I have to wait for Papa Bear Day tomorrow before I can have my presents–Mama Bear is being a stickler for the rules. *sigh* I’m like a kid when it comes to this stuff, even giving presents, I always want to give them as soon as I get them. It’s only one day, right?
